About Shane Philips

Shane Philips is a student of The Chandra Pillil School of Yoga, nestled in the serene landscapes of Kerala, India. Named "Moon House Yoga," this school became the crucible where Shane, under the loving guidance of his parents, delved into the profound realms of yoga, reiki, dance, and singing. These holistic disciplines served as a fusion aimed at nurturing peace and abundance within not just his immediate family but also his broader community.

Shane, a native of Fergus, Ontario, had his roots and upbringing in this farm town where his journey led him on a unique path pursuing both his passion for Classical Italian Opera singing under the mentorship of Edward Johnson and attaining a second-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do under the guidance of Master Chung Oh in Kitchener Waterloo.

Shane's career has been marked by his commitment to social work with a dedication to inner-city homeless teenagers at Wyndham House in Guelph, Ontario and beyond borders as he volunteered for the Manhattan Foster Care Program in New York City. This tapestry of life experience has provided Shane with profound insights and understanding, which he now imparts through his yoga practice rooted in the philosophy of self-union, guiding others towards a path of holistic well-being.

Shane Philips has dedicated more than 10,000 hours to his yoga training, which commenced at the young age of 11 under the guidance of his father. With a decade of teaching experience spanning the globe, his journey has taken him to diverse destinations, including India, Thailand, and Mexico. For the past 11 years, he has been actively involved in instructing yoga at multiple studios across Toronto.

Presently, Shane teaches yoga and meditation to adults at Modo Yoga and Blue Canoe. Additionally, he collaborates with the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) as an Educational Partner, focusing on mindfulness and yoga, fostering holistic well-being among students and educators alike.
