Classes
Core Learning
Students will learn how breath and stress are related, and that mindful breathing and intentional movement can be used to manage anxiety, enhance performance, and heighten emotional safety in and out of the school setting.
Strength and Flexibility
This program enhances both a child’s strength and flexibility by combining controlled movements, held poses, and mindful breathing. Poses, such as plank and warrior, engage and strengthen muscles while improving stability. Simultaneously, stretches like forward folds and lunges gently lengthen muscles and increase joint mobility, creating a balanced blend of power and flexibility in a child’s body.
Breathing and Relaxing
Meditative breathing teaches children to relax by focusing on their breath, which calms their mind and body. Breathing techniques activate the parasympathetic nervous system, reducing stress and anxiety. By learning to connect their breath with gentle movements or stillness, children develop a powerful tool for finding calm in challenging situations.
Accesability
The program is presented in a fun, accessible format, and allows students of all ages and abilities to participate in and benefit from a regular practice. In addition, teachers will benefit from taking part in the practice, and will find the tools offered to be of great use in the classroom setting.
Balance and Control
This program helps children develop balance and control by encouraging focus on body awareness and coordination. Poses like tree pose and airplane challenge their ability to stabilize while holding specific positions, improving both physical and mental steadiness. Over time, practicing yoga strengthens core muscles and enhances motor skills, giving children greater confidence in their movements.
Physical Education
MKYoga supports a child’s mental health by teaching them mindfulness and how to manage emotions through breathing and movement. The calming practices in yoga help children reduce stress, build focus, and improve self-awareness, giving them tools to navigate their feelings. Over time, this fosters resilience and emotional balance, creating a strong foundation for their overall mental well-being.
